We recommend that you submit your documents to our New Accounts department within 24 hours of your online application submission.

 

The following documents are required in accordance with your requested account type.

 

FOR INDIVIDUAL AND JOINT ACCOUNT HOLDERS:

Friedberg Direct requires a copy of the following for each named account holder:

 

  1. A photocopy of one form of a non-expired, government issued photo ID.

Your identification must clearly indicate your date of birth. All documents that contain an expiration date must be valid, unless stated otherwise.

Examples of this include a:

    •  Passport
    •  Driving license
    •  Non-driver's ID

 

  1. A proof of residence dated within six months for the address indicated on the application. (PO Boxes are not acceptable.)

Please note that we are unable to accept any statement or bill that has not been received in its entirety. Information such as the billing name and address must be visible, as well as the company that has issued the bill. Your document must not be folded. Payment stubs are not acceptable, as they display limited information. Confidential information, such as an account number(s), may be removed at your own discretion.

Examples of this include a:

    •  Gas bill
    •  Electric bill
    •  Telephone bill
    •  Mortgage bill
    •  Credit card statement
    •  Bank statement
    •  Current lease agreement

 

You may submit your documents as scanned images (JPG, GIF, DOC, PDF—no password protection please) to our New Accounts department at direct@friedberg.ca.

 

Please note that a Proof of Resident is not required if the address on your government issued photo ID matches the residential address listed on your application.

 

  1. Physical Signature Card.

If you apply for an account online, you will receive a form which you are required to sign and send via Fax or Email to Friedberg Direct. View Physical Signature Card

 

  1. W-8BEN.

Friedberg Direct requires all clients to submit a W-8BEN Form - Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding. Fill out the W-BEN form here.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT

Friedberg Direct must receive the following in addition to the New Account Agreement:

1.       One form of identification from each account holder (i.e. Driver's license or Passport)

2.       Proof of residential address that is represented on account application (i.e. Utility bill, bank statement, Note: PO Boxes are NOT acceptable)

The copies of ID and the account application MUST be mailed to: (Faxed copies will NOT be accepted - as per IIROC rules.)

The minimum initial deposit required for opening a regular account with Friedberg Direct is $5000 USD or CAD. A Mini account can be opened with a minimum initial deposit of $600 USD or CAD. Funds may be sent via wire. Once funds are placed in a new account, clients will be contacted via email with Login information. Please refer to the following page for information regarding Depositing Funds.

Please do NOT send funds until after your account forms have been received and processed by Friedberg Direct. A member of the Friedberg Direct staff will contact you via email within 2 business days of receiving your account forms.

1) Download the above New Account & Privacy Agreement files,
2) print the documents,
3) complete all of the necessary information, including E-mail address,
4) sign the necessary section(s), make copies for yourself,
5) Mail the, original, required pages to Friedberg Direct

Important Information: Please be sure to type or clearly print your E-mail address on the New Account Agreement, as this will be the medium used to contact you following the receipt of the application. Please do NOT send funds until after your account forms have been received and processed by Friedberg Direct. A member of the Friedberg Direct staff will contact you via email within 2 business days of receiving your account forms. For joint accounts, each account holder must sign at the bottom of necessary pages.

Account Manager Option
If you wish to employ another individual to trade on your behalf, a Limited Power of Attorney Form must be completed indicating the account manager who will be assigned the necessary permissions as the Trading Agent. In addition, Friedberg Direct requires the account manager to complete the New Account Agreement. The Friedberg Direct trading platform enables the trading agent to collect a fee on every unit being traded. This fee must be specified on the Limited Power of Attorney Form.

CORPORATE ACCOUNT

Corporations planning to use Friedberg's clearing services are required to complete an Friedberg Direct Trading Agreement. To open a Corporate account, download the Friedberg Direct Trading Agreement, complete the required fields, apply the required signatures and mail to us the originals.

Friedberg Direct must receive the following in addition to the Trading Agreement:

1.       One form of identification from each person authorized to trade the account (i.e. Driver’s license or Passport)

2.       Proof of corporate address that is represented on account application (i.e. Utility bill, bank statement).

As a corporate account, please provide Friedberg Direct with the following:

  • The authorized individual (Corporation Director) must complete and sign all necessary pages of the Friedberg Direct Client Agreement.
  • Corporate Resolutions authorizing the Trader to trade for the corporation (2 pages of Friedberg Direct Trading Agreement). Please be sure to affix corporate seal of the Corporation. Also, be sure to sign the Personal Guarantee.
  • Corporate documents, including (a) Certificate of Incorporation and (b) Articles of Organization for the Corporation indicating authorized director(s) of the corporate entity. (c) Shareholder registry, indicating all beneficial shareholders that own interest of 10% or more in the corporation.
  • Limited Power of Attorney naming the Trading Agent if the director is not trading the account himself. The Trading Agent should also complete a copy of the Friedberg Direct Trading Agreement, as well as submit a copy of photo identification and proof of residence.
  • The copies of ID and the account application should be mailed to:
